David Knopfler - Behind The Lines (1985) - €10,00

David Knopfler (born 27 December 1952) is a British singer-songwriter from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He was born in Scotland and raised in England from the age of two.
Together with his older brother Mark Knopfler, John Illsley, and Pick Withers, he founded the rock band Dire Straits in 1977, serving as rhythm guitarist on their first two albums.
After quitting the band, Knopfler embarked upon a solo career as a recording artist. Knopfler initially created smaller record labels, publishing companies, and indie labels

Behind the Lines is David Knopfler's second solo album after leaving Dire Straits. It was released in 1985 and in 1997 on the Paris Original Music label.  The album was dedicated to "Anna with love".
Opening with Heart to Heart, which starts as a good-paced rock number and shifts up a gear once or twice, Behind the Lines is a sound album... apart from the odd track where Mr Knopfler goes off on a surreal tangent, writing obscure lyrics which mean not a lot to your average punter, Behind the Lines rocks and rolls along quite pleasingly.
Employing interesting chord progressions and nifty tunes, this record culminates in the track One Time, which is undeniably the most beautiful (xmassy) love song ever committed to vinyl, and this alone makes the purchase well worth while.
